Zimbabwe to Host Premier National Education Summit 2026

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – The 4th annual National Education Summit Zimbabwe (NESZ 2026) is set to convene in Bulawayo from May 27–29, 2026. This significant event will gather the nation’s leading education stakeholders, representing the entire spectrum of the sector.

Operating under the theme, “From Policy to Practice: Driving Innovation and Investment in Zimbabwe’s Education System,” NESZ 2026 aims to accelerate the implementation of educational policies into tangible results. The summit will also foster new avenues for innovation, strategic partnerships, and sustainable financial models within the education sector.

NESZ 2026 is organized by Action for Empowerment Zimbabwe, in collaboration with Business Diary and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, is anticipated to deliver the official opening address as the esteemed Guest of Honour.

This year’s summit marks a pivotal evolution from the former National Education Conference and Exhibition (NECE). This transition, formalized by a resolution from the 3rd Edition and the Manna Resort Communiqué, signifies a strengthened collaboration between public and private entities. NESZ is now positioned as a high-level national forum dedicated to policy alignment, stakeholder coordination, and comprehensive transformation of the education sector.

Strategic Pillars for Educational Transformation

The National Education Summit Zimbabwe (NESZ) 2026 will concentrate on eight core strategic pillars designed to revolutionize the national learning environment. These include:

Sustainability: Enhancing governance structures and exploring innovative financing mechanisms.

Empowerment: Advancing the professional development and welfare of educators.

Inclusion: Ensuring equitable access to education and modernizing school infrastructure.

Future-Ready: Promoting digital transformation and developing skills aligned with industry demands.

Synergy: Strengthening public-private partnerships and fostering greater stakeholder collaboration.

Participation and Outcomes

The summit expects participation from approximately 13 government ministries and departments, alongside an estimated 3,000 delegates. This diverse group will include school administrators, teachers, School Development Committees, District Education Offices, faith-based educational institutions, development partners, and private sector service providers.

NESZ 2026 will conclude with the issuance of a comprehensive Communiqué. This document will outline strategic and actionable recommendations aimed at bolstering Zimbabwe’s education system and supporting the nation’s broader development objectives.

NESZ 2026 continues its role as a premier national platform for constructive dialogue, collaborative efforts, and decisive action, driving Zimbabwe’s vision for a contemporary, inclusive, and innovation-led education sector.
