The Youth Service program in Zimbabwe, recently relaunched by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has successfully recruited over 1,000 young people.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere made this announcement after a Cabinet meeting. The program is also advancing infrastructure projects, including an innovation hub at Ruwa Vocational Training Centre, which is currently 80% complete. This hub aims to equip youths with the resources they need to develop their innovations.
Additionally, the establishment of Production Vocational Training Units is underway, with 45 Vocational Training Centres being readied to serve as production hubs.

Ongoing projects include the construction of the Sinovo Vocational Training Centre and the planned Umguza Dairy Parlour. Overall, the program seeks to foster a sense of patriotism and unity among the youth of Zimbabwe while empowering them with socio-economic opportunities across various sectors.
The relaunch occurred on May 24, 2024, at the Nhakiwa Vocational Training Centre in Mashonaland East Province, where 1,082 youths enrolled in the first intake at the Vumba and Dadaya Training Centres. Dr. Muswere reported that national awareness campaigns aimed at combating drug and substance abuse have reached around five million youths through various media, including television, radio, and social media.
