The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company (ZITF) has unveiled its ambitious plans for the transformation of the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, which will undergo a name change to the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Eco-Park (ZICEEP).
The project, which is expected to cost US$300 million, would be carried out in stages with the goal of reviving the 17-acre premium real estate close to the Bulawayo central business area into a vibrant mixed-use complex.
The thoroughplan, which was made public on Wednesday, describes a long-term plan to update the fairgrounds with cutting-edge amenities.
Busisa Moyo, the chairman of the ZITF Company, expressed excitement about the project’s potential to promote long-term, sustainable growth and development in Bulawayo. “The unveiling of the new ZITF Masterplan and Eco-Park represents a transformative moment for Bulawayo,” Moyo said. “By revitalising the ZICEEP, we aim to create a vibrant hub for commerce, hospitality, and leisure, while also celebrating Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage.”

A new international convention centre with space for 5,000 delegates, a 500-room hotel connected to the convention centre, and a five-star boutique hotel designed to welcome visiting heads of state and VIPs are just a few of the prominent features that the proposed ZICEEP will have.
The complex will also have a contemporary shopping centre with a wide range of dining, entertainment, and retail opportunities. The design of the eco-park would also feature an office park, a theme park honouring Zimbabwe’s history and landmarks, and eco-friendly areas.
Moyo highlighted the preservation of more than 25 historically significant existing structures, which would be updated in accordance with the project’s overall goal.
Stakeholders are being contacted by ZITF Company in order to begin implementing various anchor developments.
