A Zebra Kiss bus skidded off the road and flipped on its side along the Chirundu-Harare route on Wednesday, injuring thirteen persons.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, a spokesman for the national police, verified the incident.
“A terrible traffic collision involving a Zebra Kiss bus occurred at the 134km marker as it was traveling from Chirundu to Harare.
“It is claimed that the collision happened as a result of a haulage truck that was standing still in the middle of the road while another vehicle was traveling in the other way.
“It resulted in 13 people being injured,” he said.
The accident occurred just a few days after two errant drivers, Mike Makwara of Zebra Kiss, and Misheck Penyaiwere of Rimbi, were sentenced to 24 months and 30 months imprisonment after being convicted for reckless driving.
In addition, the two were banned from driving heavy duty and public service vehicles for life.
They had their Class 1 drivers’ licences cancelled.
