6 armed robbers raid Delta Beverages depot, get away with US$20 000 and R18 000 cash

Six armed robbers carried out a daring raid at a Delta Beverages depot in Chipinge, stealing over US$20,000 in cash on May 22, police say.

According to a police statement, the gang attacked a security guard, cashier and truck driver at the beverage company before getting away with $20,965 in U.S currency and R18,750 in South African rand.

The armed assailants, whose identities remain unknown, brandished unidentified pistols during the heist before fleeing the scene with the cash loot.

Police are now appealing for information that could help identify and arrest the gang members responsible.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) tweeted: “The ZRP is investigating a case of robbery which occurred at Delta Beverage Depot, Chipinge on 22/05/23. Six unknown suspects armed with unidentified pistols attacked security guards, a truck driver, and a cashier before stealing US$20 965 and ZAR18 750 cash. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.”
