Harare – Zimbabwe Vice President Constantino Chiwenga on Thursday turned 70 years of age.
VP Chiwenga,a retired army General has been serving in government as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s deputy.
General Chiwenga served as the Zimbabwe Commander Defence Forces for more than 15 years during the Robert Mugabe era.
He was instrumental in the removal of Mugabe when he led the army to orchestrate a coup in 2017.
A former liberation war fighter of the 1970s, Chiwenga has worked for Zimbabwe since the country’s birth in 1980 from British colonial rule.
Chiwenga has been condemning corruption in the country.
The former army chief, outside his government duty is a farmer.
Chiwenga’s wife, Miniyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga wrote a message to his husband on Facebook.
”Happy birthday Shefu muntu wami, I have seen you grow to become a great statesman, a devoted Christian, a committed husband, a loving father and grandfather….May the Almighty God continue to guide and protect you, may ,”The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace,” Baloyi Chiwenga wrote on Facebook.
She went on to quote several verses dedicating them to his husband.
”(Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV). May you “… see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”(Psalm 23:13). May those who “….plot against you, their evil schemes never succeed”(Psalm 21:11). May “A thousand fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.”(Psalm 91:7). Because “…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). I wish you many more years because the bible says, “With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation ( Psalm 91:16). 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
