African Chrome Fields, a leading chrome mining company in Zimbabwe, has unveiled ambitious expansion plans aimed at capturing a significant portion of the global chrome market.
By the end of 2026, ACF aims to secure up to 25% of the global market share for high-grade chrome concentrate.
“Our goal is to establish ACF as a major force in the global chrome industry, while simultaneously elevating Zimbabwe’s reputation as a premier source of high-quality chrome concentrate,” stated Zunaid Moti, Chairman and Country Representative of African Chrome Fields.
To achieve this ambitious target, ACF has outlined significant investments in local infrastructure and capacity-building initiatives. The company currently operates six spiral wash plants across the Midlands province, producing an average of 30,000 tonnes of high-grade chromium concentrate each month.

Looking ahead, ACF plans to increase its monthly chrome output to between 50,000 and 60,000 tonnes, targeting an annual production of 800,000 tonnes by the end of 2030. To accomplish this, the company intends to expand its operations by adding two more wash plants and relocating three existing ones.
These expansion efforts are expected to significantly boost Zimbabwe’s foreign exchange earnings, with annual revenue projected to exceed $150 million by 2030. Additionally, ACF’s job creation and infrastructure development initiatives will directly and indirectly benefit over 8,500 community members.
“Our plans demonstrate our unwavering confidence in the strength and global competitiveness of our products, as well as our belief in Zimbabwe’s future,” added Moti.
Beyond expanding its production capacity, ACF is also driving innovation in its beneficiation processes. The company is developing a low-silica chrome product variant and increasing production of ultra-low carbon, high-grade ferrochrome for the aeronautical engineering sector.
To further strengthen Zimbabwe’s value chains, ACF plans to supply up to 50% of its chrome concentrate to local smelters at fair market prices. Moreover, the company is committed to uplifting local communities through various social initiatives, including establishing a bakery and providing transportation for school children.
“We see ourselves as a partner to Zimbabwe and the communities in which we operate,” concluded Moti. “By investing in our operations and new innovations, we hope to not only achieve commercial success but also make a meaningful difference in the lives of Zimbabweans.”
