Afro-fusion artist Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora is in hot water after a warrant of arrest was issued against him—four months after he was involved in a New Year’s Day accident in Harare that he is being accused of causing through negligent driving.
The crash, which occurred at the intersection of Harare Drive and Borrowdale Road, involved Mbeu’s Toyota Aqua and a Peugeot 407 driven by Patikayi Murisa.
According to Murisa, Mbeu has spent months ignoring his efforts to resolve the matter amicably.
“It has been five months of hell for me because Mbeu has not been picking up my calls after he caused the accident on January 1,” said a visibly frustrated Murisa.
“As a celebrity, I expected him to show responsibility, but he vanished. He only started cooperating after a warrant of arrest was issued against him.”
Silence, Deflection, and Desperation
Murisa says that immediately after the accident, Mbeu refused to speak, claiming he was unwell. He allegedly referred Murisa to his then-wife, Faith Mashami, who in turn claimed they were no longer together.
WhatsApp messages seen by ZiMetro confirm Mashami distancing herself from the issue, writing:
“May you please contact Mbeu directly, we are no longer staying together.”
In one of the messages, Murisa had tried to reach out respectfully:
“Makadini, Mai Mbeu? I was a bit tied up and I also had to consider the recovery of your husband before pressuring him for a way forward in our case.”
But after months of being stonewalled, Murisa turned to the police for help. He claims that Mbeu had initially agreed to cover the repair costs but then disappeared.
“I didn’t want it to come to this, but my car is still parked at home—damaged—and I was getting no answers,” he said.
Mbeu Breaks Silence
Contacted by ZiMetro for comment, Mbeu confirmed the delay but said he was now cooperating.
“I know the guy, I am meeting him on Thursday. We are actually talking,” he said.
The “Mavanga” hitmaker had earlier posted about the accident on social media, describing it as a near-death experience:
“On the 1st of January 2025, just a day before my second born’s birthday, I got into a horrible accident and almost lost my life… God gave me another chance… I will rise again and even stronger! Mbeu ndini!”
What’s Next?
With the warrant now forcing the artist to engage, Murisa says he’s still skeptical about any resolution.
“He pleaded for a meeting at Highlands Police Station, but I no longer trust him. This has dragged on for too long.”
As the legal process now takes its course, fans and observers will be watching closely to see whether Mbeu follows through—and whether justice will finally be served.
