All Eyes on Simba Bhora: One Win Away from Premiership Title

Simba Bhora

Simba Bhora could be one step closer to clinching the Castle Lager Premiership title if certain conditions align in their favor today.

The Shamva-based team faces Herentals at Rufaro Stadium, and securing three points from this match will significantly boost their chances, especially if second-placed FC Platinum falters at home against Yadah and Ngezi Platinum fails to defeat Chegutu Pirates at Baobab.

With 60 points, Simba Bhora holds a nine-point lead over FC Platinum with just five matches remaining in the season. Ngezi Platinum currently sits third with 46 points and has a game in hand, which means they could potentially finish the season with 64 points if they win all their remaining matches.

FC Platinum can reach a maximum of 66 points if they win their last five games, making the race for the championship intense. However, Simba Bhora recognizes the challenge ahead, as Herentals has consistently been a formidable opponent.

Herentals midfielder Ali Maliselo emphasized their determination to prevent Simba Bhora from celebrating the title today. “Simba Bhora has been impressive this season, currently on a 13-match unbeaten streak,” Maliselo stated. “But we have our own goals to achieve. A strong finish could see us secure a top-four position.”

Maliseo reflected on their previous match against Simba Bhora, where they settled for a goalless draw, stating, “This is our chance to turn the tables at home. It will be a tough match, but we are ready to give it our all.”

Meanwhile, Yadah will aim to challenge FC Platinum, who need a significant turnaround to stay in contention for the title. Coach Thomas Ruzive expressed the team’s focus on finishing the league strong after being eliminated from the Chibuku Super Cup. “We’re determined to secure a victory against FC Platinum and improve our standings,” he said.
