Penalonga | New Appointed Member of Parliament Scott Pedzisai Sakupwanya has come under fire following the deaths of 15 Miners at his Penalonga Redwing Mine.

Redwing Mine has been in the papers since 2020 over the issues of illegal mining activities and accidents that led to the loss of more than 150 miners.

Questions over the mine’s safety has been thrown around following revalations that the mine was earlier issued with ban by the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) in January last year following reports of fatal accidents involving artisanal miners.

Many people have since stated raising questions of whether the Environmental Management Agency was paid to turn a blind eye or they are just ignorant and don’t care about the reports of deaths and land degradation happening at the mine.
