Two security guards have been accused of working with armed robbers to steal money from the premises they were assigned to protect.
According to reports from H-Metro, the guards were caught on CCTV footage accepting their share of the stolen cash from their suspected accomplices.
The guards, Marshal Siyamboko and Tonderai Sixpence, were employed by Raven Shield Security and stationed at Turnal Holdings.
The incident allegedly took place in the early hours of an unspecified date, when a group of armed robbers, armed with pistols, machetes, and iron bars, entered the complex. The robbers reportedly overpowered the other security guards on duty, leaving one of them outside under the watch of a single gang member.
It is said that Siyamboko and Sixpence helped the robbers by guiding them around the premises, pointing out offices and identifying the room where they believed the cash was stored.
The robbers used the iron bars to break into several office doors, eventually gaining access to a safe, from which they took US$5,866.
The security guards’ involvement was revealed when CCTV footage surfaced, showing them receiving part of the stolen money and interacting with the robbers.
During the investigation, Siyamboko led police to recover US$40, which he had hidden under a plank in the car park of Turnal Holdings. He also directed officers to another US$40 hidden in a jacket in his bedroom.
In court, Sixpence denied receiving any money from the robbers, claiming that he was forced into cooperating with their demands under duress.
