Betterbrands Backs Zimbabwe’s Digital Transformation with “Digitalize Zimbabwe” Initiative

Betterbrands has pledged its support for Zimbabwe’s “Digitalize Zimbabwe” campaign, a nationwide effort spearheaded by the Minister of ICT and Courier Services, Hon. Dr. Tatenda Mavetera. The initiative, which includes ICT expos in all provinces, aims to drive Zimbabwe toward a paperless economy by 2030 in alignment with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision.

The Beitbridge event marks a significant milestone in the journey, following the campaign’s launch in Domboshava earlier this year. The launch in Beitbridge was attended by key figures, including Hon. Eveline Ndlovu, the Minister of State for Matabeleland South, and Hon. Albert Ngulube, the MP for Beitbridge South. Major industry players, including POTRAZ, TelOne, ZETDC, Econet, Nyaradzo, Zim Borders, and more, showcased their support for the digitalization drive.

Minister Mavetera highlighted the importance of ICT expos in reaching various regions, aiming to raise awareness and foster collaboration among both public and private sectors to achieve a paperless society. “These ICT roving expos are about reaching all provinces, creating awareness, and encouraging action in both government and private sectors to drive us toward a digital future,” she stated.

Boniface Chimedza, the Marketing Director for Digitalize Zimbabwe, expressed appreciation for the ICT Ministry’s leadership and the initiative’s progress. He emphasized the commitment of Video Promotions Africa to advancing Zimbabwe’s digital transformation and noted that the goal is to ensure that digital technology reaches every corner of the country, both urban and rural.

In his address, Chimedza acknowledged Betterbrands for its significant role in the Beitbridge event, despite its physical absence. “Our partners like Betterbrands are vital to the success of this project,” he said, underscoring the importance of strategic collaborations in making the initiative successful.

The expo featured various digital solutions from different sectors aimed at enhancing connectivity and simplifying business operations. There was a strong focus on equipping communities and schools with the necessary tools for digital advancement. Local businesses, such as Uber, have already joined the campaign, highlighting the broadening impact of the initiative.

Utande’s Felistas Chauke remarked, “Our mission is to offer high-quality ICT services, and this new branch further extends our commitment to the digital future of Zimbabwe.”

Local artists like Prince Adrie, a Tshivenda hip-hop musician, and Christen Mirror provided cultural performances, adding a vibrant atmosphere to the event and reinforcing Beitbridge’s role in integrating both technological and community development.

With the Ministry of ICT at the helm and support from key partners such as Betterbrands and Utande, the Digitalize Zimbabwe initiative is making significant progress toward a fully digitalized nation, ensuring that every community is included in the digital revolution.
