Harare, Zimbabwe | Mhazi Two Six Three (Private) Limited, the manufacturers of the popular Bhuru Energy Drink, has issued a formal letter of demand for an apology and retraction from a local publication following a story alleging that the company and its products are unregistered.
Represented by TK Takaindisa Law Chambers, the company has described the article as false, malicious, and damaging to its commercial reputation.
Legal Notice and Refutation
In a strongly worded letter, the legal team clarified the corporate standing of the energy drink manufacturer, emphasizing that the brand operates strictly within the legal framework of Zimbabwe.
“We act on behalf of Mhazi Two Six Three Trading (Private) Limited, trading as Bhuru International (‘our Client’). Our Client has instructed us regarding your article published on your platform… dated 22 January 2026, which falsely alleges that Bhuru Energy Drink is an illegal sex enhancement drug and unregistered with the relevant regulatory authorities,” the lawyers stated.
The law firm further clarified:
-
Legal Status: Mhazi Two Six Three Trading (Pvt) Ltd is a duly registered private limited company incorporated under Zimbabwean law.
-
Compliance: Bhuru Energy Drink is not an “illegal sex enhancement drug” and is fully compliant with all local regulatory requirements.
-
Standards: The product adheres to quality and safety standards prescribed by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) and other relevant authorities.
Demand for Apology
The lawyers highlighted that the defamatory allegations have caused “serious harm” to the brand’s business operations. Consequently, Bhuru International has set a 48-hour ultimatum for the publication to issue a full, unqualified retraction and a prominent apology across both digital and print platforms.
The legal notice concluded with a warning: “Be advised that if you fail to comply… our Client will have no alternative but to institute legal proceedings seeking damages for defamation and compensation for loss of business.”
Mhazi Two Six Three continues to refute all claims of irregularity, maintaining that their certification is up to date and their manufacturing processes are transparent and regulated.
