Harare, Zimbabwe | A 62-year-old man from Borrowdale, Masimba Chandavengerwa, has been arrested for raping his 34-year-old lover, accusing her of spending his money while refusing to have sex with him.
Chandavengerwa went to his girlfriend’s house in Msasa Park and found her coming out of the bathroom. He then forced her into the bedroom and raped her without protection, claiming she had been using his money while rejecting his advances.
The victim reported the incident to the police, leading to Chandavengerwa’s arrest.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest.
“Police have arrested a Borrowdale man for raping his girlfriend,” said Insp Chakanza.
He added that the victim was alone with her children at the time, as her maid had already left for the day.
“The accused pinned the victim against the wall and raped her once. She was later taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital for medical examinations,” said Insp Chakanza.
Police are urging the public to report cases of sexual violence and seek justice for victims.
