‘Broke’ Khama Billiat to be evicted from his Midrand home

Khama Billiat Not Out Of Options, Grants Transfer Mandate To Europe Agents!

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Khama Billiat is facing a legal tussle with the owners of his house in Midrand who want to evict the soccer star’s close relatives who reside on the premises due o the footballer’s alleged failure to keep up with the payment of the bond agreement.

City Press has learnt through the office of the sheriff that an entity known as Emerging Markets Home Loans has applied to the Pretoria High Court for an eviction order against five occupants, who have stayed in the house since Billiat’s departure to join Zimbabwean outfit Yadah Stars.

The financial institution filed a notice of motion on 5 May, citing that the occupants were unlawfully living at the premises, even though the house was allegedly due to be auctioned in June.

“The information is that the player has not been paying monthly monthly installments for the house, prompting the finance service provider to put the house on auction in an attempt to recoup R1.7 million loan,” said the sheriff who asked not to be identified.

The sheriff further told the City Press that his attempt to contact Billiat have been unsuccessful, and the creditors consequently filed an ex parte application, which meant proceedings could unfold without the other part in attendance.

The notice of motion document emphasizes the need for the company to evict the occupants of the house, citing the prejudice it is suffering.

“In the event of the first and second respondents (Billiat and unlawful occupants) to vacate the premises, the sheriff of this honourable court be authorised and ordered to eject them and all those occupying, together with any movables, from the premises,” reads the document.

They also want the 33 year-old to be ordered to pay the cost of the legal action on an attorney-to-client scale.

“The respondents and all those occupying must vacate the premises on the day of granting this order, alternatively on such a latter date determined by the honourable court,” reads the papers.

Billiat, who also played for PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns, was rated as among the highest paid players in the country.

He played youth soccer in the Aces Youth Soccer Academy and made his senior league debut with the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town in August 2010. The lawyers representing Emerging Markets Home Loans, Jillian Pedro, confirmed that eviction action had indeed been taken.

“I am the attorney of record in the matter. It’s still an ongoing process, therefore, I cannot say much about it,” she said.

Efforts to get hold of Billiat were fruitless.
