Bulawayo Police Recover Two Stolen Vehicles Taken from KoSamuriwo Pub

Bulawayo police have successfully recovered two stolen vehicles that went missing on Sunday night while their owners were drinking at KoSamuriwo Pub and Grill in Old Luveve suburb.

The stolen vehicles—a silver Mazda CX5 and a black Honda Fit—were found abandoned within 48 hours of the theft. While the Mazda CX5 was recovered with a missing battery, the Honda Fit was found intact.

Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, confirmed the incident and urged motorists to be extra cautious when leaving their vehicles unattended.

According to police reports:

Mazda CX5 Theft:

  • The vehicle’s owner parked at Chigumira Shopping Centre on Saturday night before heading into KoSamuriwo Pub.
  • After a heavy night of drinking, he woke up in a drainage trench near another bottle store at around 4 AM.
  • His car keys were missing, and upon checking, he discovered his vehicle had been stolen.
  • A police report was filed, leading to the car’s recovery.

Honda Fit Theft:

  • A 21-year-old man and his 23-year-old friend also parked at Chigumira Shopping Centre before heading into the pub.
  • They locked their car but left the front passenger window open.
  • When they returned around 3 AM, the car had disappeared—even though they still had the keys.

Police are investigating how the vehicles were stolen and who may be responsible. Assistant Inspector Msebele urged drivers to avoid leaving their cars unattended for long hours, especially while drinking, and to ensure all windows and doors are securely locked.

Law enforcement officials continue to track potential suspects, and more updates will follow as the case develops.
