A businessman fell victim to a harrowing robbery incident where armed assailants stormed his residence, making off with his Toyota Land Cruiser, among other valuables, and using it as their getaway vehicle. Augustine Zvenyika, one of the suspected perpetrators, was apprehended and brought before the court yesterday.
According to court proceedings, the incident occurred on November 29 last year when Zvenyika, alongside his accomplices Raphael Chamangwana, Onward Mukwiza, Partson Magore, Elton Chichoka, and Danmore Kasemba, along with others who remain at large, raided the businessman’s home in Dema.

Armed with four pistols, they forcibly entered the premises, overpowering the security guard, and subjected the businessman and his wife to physical assault, demanding money.
After being handed a purse containing US$800, the robbers proceeded to ransack the property, looting items such as clothing, a Revolver Taurus firearm, and a cellphone. In a brazen act, they also stole the businessman’s Toyota Land Cruiser and a Jeep Cherokee, utilizing them as their escape vehicles.
Zvenyika was apprehended by authorities on Saturday and has since been remanded in custody. He has been advised to seek bail considerations from the High Court.
