… GM Angela Mpofu-Chisvo Suspended over allegations

Botha Mine has announced that the company’s former chairperson Themba Hlongwane is no longer representing the company in any capacity while his ally the general manager Angela Mpofu-Chisvo was suspended effective January 6, 2025.

This was as a resut of fraud allegations raised against the two emanating from their controversial tenue at the mine.

In a statement Botha Mine said the two are facing serious allegations and remain barred from entering the company’s premises further emphasising that Hlongwane has not won any court case against the mine.

“We would like to categorically confirm that Hlongwane is no longer part of Botha Mine in any capacity and is currently facing serious criminal charges at various courts in the country.

“Criminal allegations /cases against Mr Hlongwane: *Fraud/Theft: Cases Numbers Bindura Police (1)RRB 5874696 (2)CR104/07/24 (3)RRB5874661 (4)CR130/01/24 others are pending. *Kidnapping: Case Number Bindura Police RRB 6191451 In light of the above allegations, Mr Hlongwane remains barred from all premises of Botha Mine,” Botha Mine said.

“We would like to emphasize that Hlongwane has not won any legal cases against Botha Mine to date and has no individual appeal before the Supreme Court. Anyone who gets involved in any transactions with Mr Hlongwane on behalf of Botha Mine will be liable to losses incurred.

“ The Bindura Community to be specific is therefore warned from engaging in any monetary or any other transactions with Mr Hlongwane on behalf of Botha Mine,” the Mine added.

On Mpofu-Chisvo, Botha Mine added that decision of her follows allegations of theft, fraud, and concealing a transaction involving over $300,000 USD.

“The case is currently under investigation, with authorities citing Bindura RRB 5874696 as the reference for the ongoing inquiry.

“As a precautionary measure, Mpofu-Chisvo has been suspended without pay or benefits. She is prohibited from entering Botha Mine premises or conducting any business on behalf of the company,” the mine said.

Botha Mine in the statement reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

The company also assured its stakeholders that it is cooperating fully with authorities as the investigations proceed.

“Any further developments regarding the case or disciplinary proceedings will be communicated in due course,” the Mine said.

Leornard Rwambiwa is now the current Interim Chairperson for the company.
