The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee has penalised CAPS United with a US$5,000 fine due to the misconduct of their fans, leading to the abandonment of their match against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium on April 6, 2024.
When CAPS United’s fans flooded the field to protest the referee’s decision to reject Ralph Kawondera’s late goal for offside, the team was found to have violated some PSL Rules and Regulations.
In addition, CAPS United was forced to surrender the match with a 0–3 result. As a result, FC Platinum surged up to third position with 18 points, trailing only the log leaders Highlanders and Manica Diamonds, who are second on goal differential.
Subject to good behavior, the committee did, however, suspend US$500 from the US$5,000 punishment. By May 27, 2024, the club must pay the remaining US$4,500 as well as the costs of the hearing.
