A woman from Chitungwiza is currently on the run after reportedly stabbing her husband on Friday due to his late return home. The woman, identified as Beauty Mabobo, 30, allegedly attacked her 29-year-old husband, Passmore Matsiga, after he arrived home late.
Passmore received treatment at Chitungwiza Hospital and was discharged. Meanwhile, Beauty fled to her parents’ home in the village for refuge.
Speaking to H-Metro, Passmore expressed that he had forgiven his wife, admitting that he was at fault.
“I’m feeling better now; I just need to return to the hospital to have seven stitches removed,” he said. “I believe it was an evil spirit trying to destroy my 12-year marriage and the family I have with my three children.”

“To be honest, I spent the night at another woman’s house and only came home the next morning. I decided to drink more beer to make it seem like I had stayed out at a nightclub. However, my appearance gave me away, and my wife noticed that I hadn’t been at the nightclub,” he continued. “She became upset and slapped me. I pushed her away and left to find some peace.”
“She grabbed my okapi knife, which I typically use for cutting threads at swimming pools, and ran after me. I wasn’t aware that she was following until she caught up with me, tripped me, and stabbed me,” Passmore added.
Passmore is hoping to reconcile with his wife and intends to withdraw the charges. “I filed a report with the police about the stabbing, but I now wish to drop the attempted murder charges. I love my wife, and I realize that I was the one at fault for not coming home,” he said.
He is caught in a dilemma, as the investigating officer wants to speak with him, while he also wants to make peace with his wife and her family.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed that authorities are investigating the attempted murder case and are asking for any information that could help locate Beauty.
“Police are looking into an attempted murder case in Chitungwiza,” said Inspector Chakanza. “The situation involved a husband and wife. The husband left home around 7 pm to drink at Unit N Shopping Centre and returned the next day at 9 am. Upon his arrival, a confrontation occurred after the wife questioned him about not coming home, leading to a heated argument. The husband left for Unit N Shopping Centre, and the wife followed.”
Inspector Chakanza continued, “The wife caught up with him at Zvigure Dance Ground, where the two started fighting. The husband tripped the wife, and during the scuffle, he dropped an okapi knife from his trousers. She picked it up and stabbed him once in the stomach. The knife was recovered at the scene.”
