Controversial businessman and staunch ZANU PF supporter, Wicknell Chivayo, has gifted two prominent young party communicators, known as “Varakashi,” with brand-new 2025 Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD6 (4×4) vehicles.
This generous act is a token of his appreciation for their significant contributions to the ruling party’s media efforts.
The term “varakashi” (singular: “murakashi”) designates a group of pro-ZANU PF social media activists dedicated to defending the ruling party and President Emmerson Mnangagwa online. This term gained popularity during the 2018 election campaign when President Mnangagwa encouraged young supporters to dominate social media platforms and “hammer party enemies online.”
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 9, Chivayo lauded Tino Chibage and C.H. Mukungunugwa, the duo behind the ZANU PF Midlands News Desk. He praised them as the “heartbeat of revolutionary communication” and “custodians of the party’s image.” Chivayo wrote, “These two comrades have captured the dedication and hard work of His Excellency, President E.D. Mnangagwa, with unmatched energy and brilliance.”

The vehicles, described as fully paid and ready for collection from Exquisite Motors, are contingent on the approval of Minister Owen “Touch Bomber” Ncube, who has reportedly mentored the two youths in developing their exemplary media department.
Chivayo referenced the President’s directive to dominate online platforms—”Endai pa social media ipapo munovarakasha” (Go on social media and ‘hammer’ them)—as a clear call that the Midlands News Desk has effectively answered. He stated that they have used digital tools to advance the party’s message and promote national unity. Chivayo concluded, “Let this be a reminder to every other young Zimbabwean that through hard work, loyalty and patriotism, the appropriate recognition will ultimately be given.”
