Harare | Following the environmental impact assessment, the proposed Zimbabwe Cyber City development in Mount Hampden was given the green light yesterday, paving the way for the multi-million dollar project to start construction. It is anticipated to usher in a new era of social and economic development.

Mulk Holdings International is providing funding for the cyber city, a US$500 million mixed-use project that is intended to be Africa’s first “smart city” and is intended to completely transform the social and economic fabric of the nation.

The first real estate project in Zimbabwe by Mulk International, overseen by its locally registered subsidiary Zimbabwe Global Investment, is called Zimbabwe Cyber City.

Minister of Local Government and Public Works Winston Chitando declared the nation was headed towards a flourishing upper middle-class economy as he formally turned over the approved EIA.

“The go-ahead has been officially given for the construction of Zimbabwe Cyber City.” We would like Zimbabwe Cyber City to open now that all the procedures have been completed, Minister Chitando stated.

“It’s crucial that we recognise that Zimbabwe is headed straight towards becoming an upper middle-income economy.”

Minister Chitando predicted that Zimbabwe Cyber City will grow into a thriving centre of business and urban living and serve as a role model for sustainable development in Zimbabwe.

The authorised master plan for the future city encompasses the current state of affairs while adhering to its guidelines. Townhomes and retail centres will eventually be built in Zimbabwe Cyber City, he predicted.

Professor Prosper Matondi, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Wildlife, stated: “We hope that there won’t be any more complaints about an Environmental Impact Assessment being a roadblock to lack of progress around the establishment and building of our cities.”

“We recognise that they are adhering to all government procedures and processes, and we hope that this develops through the environmental management plan.”

The process of identifying a development project’s environmental implications and outlining specific mitigation strategies for any negative effects during project construction, implementation, and decommissioning is known as an environmental impact assessment, or EIA.

Tendayi Hlupo-Mamvura, CEO of Zimbabwe Global Investment, stated that the company was prepared to launch the project following receipt of the EIA.

“Zimbabwe Cyber City is coming, it’s going to happen, we’re ready,” she declared.

“We are putting the finishing touches on a few small adjustments that were made to the masterplan on the ground. The most recent masterplan from the surveyor and architect merely has to be approved.

According to a flier released by Pam Golding Properties, the luxurious villas in Zimbabwe Cyber City went up for sale last month, with prices ranging from US$520 000 to US$1,1 million.

Of the 233 luxury villas planned, 50 are included in the first phase, which should be completed in 18 to 24 months.

At US$1,15 million (cash price), this five-bedroom townhouse detached villa is the epitome of elegance and convenience, making it an ideal investment for anyone pursuing an unmatched lifestyle.

In addition to paying in cash, interested parties may opt for a 12-month payment plan, which includes a 5% booking charge of US$57 000.

A 25% down payment and four months’ worth of US$287 000 in installments come next.

A four-bedroom townhouse detached villa with a price tag of US$1,08 million is also eligible for the same 12-month payment plan, as are three-bedroom townhouse detached villas priced at US$880 000 and two-bedroom townhouse detached villas priced at US$520 000.
