Cop in court for stabbing fellow police officer
A police detective from CID Mwenezi is currently facing serious allegations of murder, as reported by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA). The accused, Farai Simudzirai, allegedly engaged in a drinking session with Mirirai Chiweza and police officer Privilege Hove at a nightclub in Karoi on April 21, 2024.
During the night, an altercation ensued, leading to Simudzirai being escorted outside to prevent further conflict. However, things took a tragic turn as the accused allegedly attacked Chiweza and Hove with a weapon before fleeing the scene. Hove was subsequently taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare but sadly passed away upon admission.
“A dispute ensued as a result of a misunderstanding between the accused and other patrons.”
In light of these grave accusations, Simudzirai appeared before a Karoi magistrate and has been remanded in custody until May 8. The court advised him to seek bail through the High Court.
“He allegedly drew an okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed Hove once in the stomach before vanishing in the darkness. “
