The Golden Boot Award at the CAF African Schools Football Championship, COSAFA Qualifier, has been reassigned, with South African player Rhys Ferguson losing the honor.
Zimbabwe’s El Shaddai Sadomba emerges as the sole recipient after an initial declaration of both players as joint top-scorers with six goals each. The correction was made following a scoring revision, acknowledging Sadomba’s exclusive claim to the award.

COSAFA apologized for the miscalculation, emphasizing that Sadomba’s exceptional performance made him the clear winner. The Technical Study Group considered various factors, affirming Sadomba’s stand-alone victory with six impressive goals. Sadomba played a crucial role in Zimbabwe securing the bronze medal with a 1-0 victory over Namibia in the third-place play-off.
In this match, Sadomba’s goal proved decisive. Despite Ferguson’s noteworthy contributions, including a hattrick against Angola and a goal in the final, the revised count acknowledged Sadomba as the deserving recipient of the Golden Boot.
