Countdown to Winky D’s “Tete-a-Tete: The Ghetto Dialogue” Concert

Excitement is mounting as dancehall heavyweight Winky D gears up for his highly-anticipated concert, set for August 30 at Alex Sports Club in Harare.

The show, aptly titled “Tete-a-Tete: The Ghetto Dialogue”, promises to be more than just music — it will be an intimate exchange between the “Gaffa” and his legion of loyal fans.

As expected with any Winky D event, demand for tickets has been overwhelming, with some outlets already running out of early-bird passes. Promoter Patson “Chipaz” Chimbodza confirmed that prices are likely to go up as the day draws closer.

“Phase one tickets were very limited, and those sold out quickly. Phase two tickets are still pegged at US$15, but fans should buy early because on the day of the show, the price will be adjusted,” said Chimbodza.

Winky D, known for his socially conscious lyrics and unflinching commentary on issues affecting ordinary Zimbabweans, is expected to use the concert as a platform to connect more directly with his fans, tackling the social struggles that define “ghetto life.”

The Vigilance Music frontman has, however, kept fans guessing on whether he will use the stage to unveil new music. His last album, “Eureka Eureka” (2023), stirred debate across the country with its fearless take on political and social issues, earning both praise and controversy.

With the buzz around the show intensifying, August 30 is shaping up to be another historic night for Zimbabwean music.
