Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) debutants Simba Bhora won their second match in a row on Friday after beating Hwange 2-0 at the National Sports Stadium.
Simba Bhora lost their two opening matches to FC Platinum and Chicken Inn before holding Dynamos to a 0-0 draw.
They then recorded their first win in the topflight last week against Yadah before overcoming Hwange yesterday.
Simba Bhora attacker Alexander Mandinyenya found the opener in the 38th minute.
The premiership new boys increased their lead in the 63rd minute when midfielder Ronald “Rooney” Chitiyo buried a chance that had been missed by Mandinyenya.
Simba Bhora coach Tonderai Ndiraya was delighted by the win which was achieved on the back of three consecutive clean sheets. He said:
I can’t really say we have turned the corner, but what counts in the big league is consistency.
We are on an upwards trajectory. Our wish and hope are to keep at it and keep going up the ladder. But we are a new team.
We have experienced players but we have that blend and we want to continue learning.
I am excited that we got maximum points, my second win on the trot exciting, excited that this is our third clean sheet on the bounce and excited that we collected maximum points which will ease some off pressure off us.
The plan really is to play good football. We are a team coming from Division One and naturally difficult for newly promoted teams in the league.
Hwange coach Nation Dube was not happy with his players’ performances, He said:
If l look at this game, we only donated it, we were generous and gifted them with two goals.
These are young boys and are just coming into this league. We need to add more points from the seven points because they will not take us anywhere.
In the other match played on Friday, Yadah overcame Cranborne Bullets 1-0 in a match that was also played at the National Sports Stadium.
The Miracle Boys’ right back Munashe Gwatidzo scored during a goalmouth melee off a Wellington Kamudyariwa delivery into the box.
