Decomposed Body of Murder Suspect Discovered in Shurugwi

The remains of a 27-year-old man, who had been on the police wanted list for the murder of a student teacher at Guinea Fowl, were found in a bushy area in Shurugwi.

Midlands Province police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed that the body, identified as Valentine Tamuka Zireva, was discovered at Beacon Kop, Shurugwi, on Monday.

Zireva had last been seen on January 24 in the company of Keener Tsanana at Guinea Fowl High School. The following morning, Keener, a student teacher, was found dead in a schoolroom.

Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding Zireva’s death.

“A decomposed body was found in a bushy area at Beacon Kop, Shurugwi, on February 3, 2025. Investigations later confirmed the deceased to be Valentine Tamuka Zireva, who was wanted in connection with the murder of a female student teacher at Guinea Fowl High School,” stated Inspector Mahoko.

The body was discovered by a passerby at approximately 9:00 AM. Reports indicate that the remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, with a bark string tied to a tree above where the body lay.

Following Keener’s death on January 25, Zireva had not been seen until his body was found.

Inspector Mahoko urged the public to resolve conflicts peacefully by seeking mediation to prevent such tragedies.
