Delta cheers 103 old Gogo Veronica. Gogo Musunzambwa has been in foster care at Bumhudzo Old People’s Home since 2004. She was among recipients treated to a belated Christmas party by Delta Corporation yesterday. “Ndiri kurwadziwa kuti handina hama yangu kana one zvayo yandichaziva kuona.
A 103-year-old woman, Gogo Veronica Musunzambwa, says she still has hope of reconnecting with some relatives she last saw almost 20 years ago. “Dai Mwari achinditora hake nekuti veropa rangu vakandirasa. “Mwoyo wangu unongodzoreka pano pandigere nekuti vese varipano ndivo vatova hama dzangu,” said Gogo Musunzambwa.
Delta donated food hampers to the Salvation Army-run home after sourcing the items and funds from its workers. “As Delta Corporation we are happy to hand over the food items as we associate ourselves with Bumhudzo Old People’s Home.
“This is an expression of our love and a big gesture from our staff members after we taught them to give to the less privileged.
“We also feel that these elderly people deserve the same care and respect which they were accustomed to when they had their families around,” said Delta Corporation general manager, corporate affairs, Patricia Murambinda.
Salvation Army national leader, Lieutenant-Colonel, Sipho Mbangwa, said the gesture by Delta Corporation, and its staff, was a major boost for the home.
“We are very grateful for the donation. “This is hard to come by these days and to see such big corporates, giving to the elderly, means they care for the same communities they work with.
“The food has come at the opportune time and we speak a blessing on everyone who contributed and for the corporate to prosper in all its endeavours,” said LTC Mbangwa.
The home houses 28 inmates, with Gogo Musunzambwa being the oldest, while the youngest is 58. The home received its newest member, Wilson Sarufu, who is blind, three days ago. The home is in need of groceries, winter wear and medicines for the hospital.
