A tragic head-on collision between a truck and a tanker in Nigeria’s Niger State has resulted in the deaths of 48 people and at least 50 cattle. The incident, involving a gas tanker explosion, occurred in Agaie Local Government Area, about 2 km from Dendo Community.

In a statement, the Niger State Government confirmed the explosion, which also destroyed vehicles and caused significant loss of life and property. Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

Governor Bago, through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, conveyed his condolences, describing the tragedy as a devastating loss. He urged the local community to remain calm and called on road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent future incidents.

The governor also offered prayers, asking for divine comfort for the victims’ families and quick recovery for the injured.
