A judge has denied Sean “Diddy” Combs’ request for house arrest on his private island in Florida. The 55-year-old rapper, who is currently being held in a New York jail awaiting trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, had proposed to serve his detention at his Star Island property in Florida.
However, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the suggestion, stating, “That is not going to work.” In response, Combs’ legal team proposed an alternative, asking if he could be placed under house arrest at his Upper East Side apartment, with 24/7 security and multiple guards stationed at the property.
They argued that this arrangement would be “substantially more restrictive” than his current confinement at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center. This was Combs’ fourth request for bail, with a decision expected next week.
Combs has been in custody since his September indictment on charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. His criminal trial is scheduled for May 2025.
In addition to the federal charges, Combs faces five sexual misconduct complaints from clients represented by attorney Tony Buzbee. Buzbee has claimed to represent over 100 individuals alleging abuse by Combs. The rapper has denied all accusations of sexual abuse, with his attorneys insisting that the allegations are baseless and part of a “reckless media circus.” They also stressed that he “emphatically” denies the accusations.
