Director of Profburg Private Limited ‘Mounchikpou’ In Kidnapping Storm

Yesterday saw the court appearance of a Cameroonian businessman and his accomplice, who were accused of kidnapping their truck driver after he failed to deliver a shipment of 600 bags of fertiliser in Zambia.

After being kidnapped from Zimbabwe, the driver was transported to Zambia and held in remand custody for around two months.

When Brian Chande (50) of Chitungwiza and Moussa Mounchikpou (40) of The Grange appeared before Mr. Stanford Mambanje, the regional magistrate in Harare, they were accused with kidnapping and advised not to enter a plea.

The abduction is said to have occurred on October 28, 2018, at Mounchikpou’s offices, located at 21 Douglas Road, Workington, Harare.

Mounchikpou is the director of Profburg Private Limited.

It is alleged that the victim, Tasara Hwata (47), was summoned to the offices by his boss and Chande together with three other accomplices who are still at large.

The accomplices claimed to be police officers and told Hwata that he was under arrest for failing to deliver 600 bags of fertiliser at Omnia Fertiliser Company in Zambia.

According to the State, the trio further assaulted Hwata with a baton stick whilst he was handcuffed, ordering him to tell them where he had offloaded the truckload of fertiliser.
