First Lady Dr. Auxilia Mnangagwa recently held a counseling session with a 14-year-old girl from Chinhoyi, who had recently attracted attention on social media after publicly criticizing her mother. The young girl’s mother had been attempting to reconcile with her daughter after a challenging period in their relationship.
The situation took a more serious turn when it was revealed that the girl had been impregnated by a married gold panner, Munyaradzi Musarurwa, who is currently on the run and wanted by the police.
Dr. Mnangagwa shared her experience, saying, “I reached out to the young girl to listen to her side of the story and offer the counseling she needed.”
During their discussion, Dr. Mnangagwa encouraged the girl to apologize not only to her mother but also to mothers across Zimbabwe. She also urged the teenager to make a responsible choice by continuing her education after giving birth.
As part of her nhanga/gota/ixhiba initiative, Dr. Mnangagwa has been an active advocate for gender equality and has worked to empower communities in addressing harmful social practices that violate the rights of women and children.
