Bindura, Zimbabwe | Eight armed robbers launched a daring raid on a mine in Bindura on Unity Day, stealing 550kg of pregnant gold carbon valued at US$36,000.
The gang overpowered the security guard on duty and broke into the carbon room to execute the heist.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a statement and appealed for public assistance in locating the suspects.
“The ZRP is investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a mine in Bindura on December 22, 2024. Eight unidentified suspects who were armed with a rifle, stones, and logs attacked a security guard on duty before breaking into a carbon room where they stole 11 x 50kg of pregnant gold carbon valued at US$36,000,” he said.

Commissioner Nyathi urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station to assist with investigations.
No arrests have been made so far, and police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspects.
Robbery at Mabvuku Money Agency
The Bindura robbery follows another violent incident in Mabvuku, Harare, where three masked robbers targeted a money agency at Kamunhu Shopping Centre on December 20, 2024.
The robbers, armed with pistols, fired two warning shots into the air before demanding cash from the teller. They fled the scene with US$1,500 and R20,000 in cash, escaping in a Silver Toyota Sienta without registration plates.
Police investigations into both robberies are ongoing, as authorities work to crack down on the increasing prevalence of armed heists.
