FIFA Imposes Sanctions on Yadah FC for Breaching Contracts with Former Players

Magaya Voices Concerns Amidst Stadium Crisis

FIFA has imposed significant sanctions on Yadah FC following the club’s failure to honor contracts with three former players.

The Castle Lager Premiership team, known as the Miracle Boys, terminated their contracts with Brazilian players Juan Luciano Farias, Deivid Pereira De Brito, and Joao Pedro Marques, whom they had signed last year outside of the official transfer window.

The contractual dispute initially came before the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ), which subsequently escalated the issue to the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber. In June, the chamber ruled in favor of the Brazilian players and ordered Yadah FC to pay $82,000 in compensation, plus interest, by July 27.

Yadah FC’s failure to comply with the FIFA ruling has led to a transfer ban, prohibiting the club from registering new players. According to reports from The Herald, FIFA has instructed the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) to enforce this ban immediately.

Should Yadah FC continue to disregard the ruling, further penalties are anticipated. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) may be directed by FIFA to exclude the club from the 2025 season. This potential outcome aligns with the FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) Club Licensing regulations, specifically under the Financial Criteria pillar, which mandates compliance with financial obligations and dispute resolutions.

The sanctions reflect FIFA’s commitment to upholding contract integrity and ensuring that clubs adhere to their financial and legal responsibilities.

The transfer ban serves as a stern warning to other clubs about the importance of honoring contractual agreements and respecting international football regulations.
