Following the news of her death, rumors of witchcraft circulated within the community, allegedly driven by envy of her academic success. However, her mother has dismissed these claims, stating, “I know nothing about that.” An unnamed source mentioned potential family tensions, suggesting that not all relatives were on good terms, though this remains unconfirmed.
Despite her untimely passing, Shantel was posthumously celebrated at Muzondo High School’s prize-giving ceremony on September 27, where she received an impressive 15 awards, highlighting her dedication and impact on her studies.
Attempts to reach her grandfather, Allowed Chomuyeke, the head of Muzondo High School, for a statement have been unsuccessful. The circumstances surrounding Shantel’s death continue to generate sadness and speculation, leaving many questions unanswered in the wake of this tragedy.
