Harare | Four fuel attendants at a Glow Petroleum service station in Chishawasha, Harare, are accused of organising a fictitious robbery event in which they pretended to steal US$5,000, the day’s fuel sales earnings.
They then split up the illicitly obtained funds amongst themselves.
The Chishawasha inhabitants Blessing Gariremo (age 22), Samuel Munyanyi (age 21), Terrence Machipisa (age 20), and Plaxedes Shava (age 24) are the parties involved in this occurrence.
They appeared before Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi recently, and each was given a $150 US bail. Their case has been scheduled for a future court hearing of November 10.
These four people worked at the Highlands Glow Petroleum service station, according to the State’s statement.
The accused, acting in concert and with a common purpose, embezzled US$5,000 on October 8th from fuel sales at the Glow Petroleum Centre, which is located along Mutoko Road close to the Shamva turnoff tollgate in Highlands, Harare.
They made personal use of this money. Their boss noticed the difference as he was balancing the day’s sales.
All four of the people who were on duty that day, according to preliminary investigations, did not account for their daily cash sales.
They gave the complainant a false impression that they had been the victims of a robbery carried out by four unidentified people driving an unmarked Honda Fit car in an effort to hide their conduct.
It is noteworthy that the incident only resulted in the recovery of $150 US.
