Government has taken swift action following a tragic accident on the Beitbridge-Masvingo Highway by suspending the Bus operating licenses of two companies involved. The suspended companies are Swaymo Enterprises Pvt Ltd, trading as Bluecircle, and Wipeco Investments (Pvt) Ltd, trading as City Bus.
The accident, which occurred on the 16th of March 2024, resulted in the loss of more than ten lives, with some fatalities reported at the scene while others succumbed to injuries in hospital. Investigations into the incident revealed that the buses were not compliant with the country’s regulations on road traffic and safety management.
The suspension of the operating licenses underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring road safety and holding operators accountable for maintaining stringent compliance standards.

It serves as a stern warning to other transportation companies to prioritize safety measures and adhere to regulatory requirements to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
