Green Machine Ramps Up 2025 Preparations with Player Unveiling and Kit Launch

After a relatively quiet pre-season, CAPS United is set to ramp up their preparations for the 2025 Castle Lager Premier League season with a major event today.

The Green Machine will announce their official technical partner and hold a player unveiling ceremony in Harare as they aim to build momentum ahead of their opening match away to GreenFuel this Saturday.

Despite facing some challenges in the off-season, including the departure of key players to rival clubs, CAPS United are eager to position themselves as serious title contenders. Club CEO Morton Dodzo expressed excitement about the upcoming season, highlighting the significance of the events planned for today.

“We’re thrilled as a club as we prepare to introduce our team for the new season. Today, we will unveil our new kits and reveal our technical partner,” Dodzo said. “This is an exciting moment for us as we show off the kits we’ll be wearing this season and give our fans a glimpse of what’s to come.”

The club is set to reveal that their new technical partner is Zimbabwe’s prominent sportswear manufacturer, Viego. The Green Machine have already been using Viego-branded gear for training and player unveiling events during the pre-season, making it no secret that Viego is now their official kit supplier. Viego has also been supplying kits for other local teams, including Herentals and champions Simba Bhora.

Today’s unveiling will include a display of various kits, including home, away, alternative away, training, and warm-up jerseys, with replicas available for fans to purchase. There will also be an auction for the first two replica jerseys of each type, with further details on where to buy the jerseys to be announced at the event.

“We’ll be auctioning the first two replica jerseys of each type, and some will be available for sale at the event. Additional replicas will be sold at selected shops and our supporters’ branches across the country,” the club said in a statement.

Despite the departure of several key players, CAPS United remains focused on ending their long title drought in the Castle Lager Premiership. Their last league championship came in 2016, and this season they will face stiff competition from well-funded clubs like Scottland, MWOS, and defending champions Simba Bhora.

In an effort to strengthen the squad, CAPS United has added over half a dozen new players, including Zimbabwe internationals Kundai Benyu and Tanaka Shandirwa. They have also secured the services of foreign players, such as Congolese midfielder Love Bissila Mabiala, Ghanaian goalkeeper Stephen Odai Kwaku, and former Namibian Under-23 player Rowen Messy Tjihumba.

Other notable signings include ex-Highlanders midfielder Brighton Manhire, former Dynamos striker Nyasha Chintuli, midfielder Juan Mutudza, and highly-rated former ZPC Hwange goalkeeper Harmony Nare. These additions are aimed at compensating for the loss of veterans Godknows Murwira, Lot Chiwunga, Ralph Kawondera, and William Manondo.

With new signings and an eager fanbase behind them, CAPS United are determined to make a strong push for the title this season.
