The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has sent a strong warning to anyone planning to disturb public peace, declaring that the force is fully prepared to maintain law and order across the country on Friday, 17 October 2025, and in the days that follow.
In a statement released by Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the ZRP assured citizens and visitors that comprehensive security deployments have been rolled out nationwide to guarantee peace and stability.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police assures Zimbabweans and visitors that peace and security will prevail on 17th October 2025 and beyond,” read the statement.
“Comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure that peace, law, and order are maintained throughout the country.”
Commissioner Nyathi said the Commissioner-General of Police has directed the deployment of officers in all provinces to safeguard citizens, businesses, and key institutions.
He urged Zimbabweans to continue with their normal routines — attending work, running businesses, accessing services, and travelling freely — without fear or disruption.
“Members of the public are encouraged to go about their daily activities as usual. The police are on the ground and ready to protect all law-abiding citizens,” Nyathi said.
The ZRP also issued a stern warning against individuals or groups spreading false information or attempting to incite violence and disorder.
“Any misinformation, threats, or incitement to commit crimes will be severely dealt with in accordance with the law,” the statement emphasized.
“Any attempts to engage in unlawful demonstrations or processions will be met with the full force of the law.”
The police further encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements, threats, or criminal activities. Reports can be made at any police station or through the National Complaints Desk (0242 703 631) or WhatsApp (0712 800 197).
As the nation approaches the date, the ZRP reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and upholding the rule of law.
“Zimbabweans should remain calm, united, and law-abiding,” Commissioner Nyathi said. “The ZRP stands ready to defend the peace, protect lives and property, and ensure that law and order prevail throughout the country.”
