Zimbabweans were left buzzing after a sangoma/n’anga claimed he played a role in helping socialite Hillary Makaya marry a wealthy man, popularly known as mbinga in local slang.
Makaya took to her Instagram stories to respond to the potentially damaging claims.
The sangoma, named Sekuru Mwale, took to Facebook to allege that Makaya had not upheld her end of their bargain. Sekuru Mwale stated that they had agreed that Makaya would share a portion of her lobola money with him, but she had since reneged on the deal and cut off all communication.
Sekuru Mwale now claims he has no choice but to “punish” Makaya using traditional methods, warning that he has evidence of their previous interactions, including purported WhatsApp messages. His full claim reads,

Ndakamubatsira sokubvumirna kwatakaita zvakitika ndinovimba mose munozviziva kuti akazoorwa nemari inosvika $40 000. Zvino dambudziko ravepo ini haachade kundipa mari yangu yatakawirirana uye pose pandaitaura naye haachabtike. Saka izvi ndauya kuti ndikuivisei kuti kana mukaona zvichaitika kwaari muzive chikonzero uye zvisazoita sokuti ndaita utsinye. Ndichakuratidzai pandaitaura naye pose. Kureva kwematare kuvapenyu.”
Sekuru Mwale even shared screenshots of alleged WhatsApp conversations between himself and Makaya to support his claims. You can view the screenshots below:

In response, Hillary Makaya dismissed the allegations, denying that she ever sought the help of a sangoma to find a wealthy husband. During an Instagram Q&A session, Makaya sarcastically remarked that if life were that simple, every woman would have a rich husband.
“I really wish life was that easy, mukadzi wese angadai ane mbinga yake 🥺 Dai vanhu vasirikukwangwaya kunze uko 🤣🤣,” Hillary Makaya nonchalantly responded to the query on whether she had gone to a sangoma/n’anga to get a rich husband.
In another response, she playfully suggested that others visit Sekuru Mwale if they want to get married.
“Endaiwo kun’anga kwacho muroorwewo 😄😄😄,” she quipped.
