Harare | Tinaye Pedzisai of Hilpaul Health Scan Clinic, who was hired as a PSMAS service provider, appeared in court yesterday for filing two claims totaling $14 000 in 2019.
Pedzisai, a professional ultrasonographer, appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje, who freed him on bail of $500 000 and ordered him to relinquish his travel documents.
PSMAS authorized Pedzisai and his clinic to provide expert services on its behalf.
The experts would thereafter collect the payments from PSMAS using various codes that varied depending on the services provided and the gender of the patients.
It was claimed that in 2021, PSMAS undertook an examination of claims dating back to 2015 and discovered that Pedzisai had obtained excessive compensation through bogus claims.
The State alleged that PSMAS lost $14 426 from his double claims.
