Hosiah Chipanga has dismissed claims that he is aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling Zanu PF party.
These allegations emerged after his performance at the launch of the Presidential War Veterans Fund and related initiatives at Dewedzo High School in Makoni West constituency.
Known for his critical stance on the Zanu PF government, Chipanga clarified that he does not support any political faction but sees himself as a war veteran on a divine mission to provide wisdom and guidance to the country’s leadership.
“I have never opposed the government; my role has always been spiritual advisory,” he explained, adding that his intentions are often misinterpreted as opposition.
He further asserted that his participation in state functions is not politically driven but serves as a platform to voice concerns about Zimbabwe’s social and economic issues.
“The current situation requires divine intervention,” he stressed, highlighting his belief in the importance of spiritual solutions for national recovery.
Reflecting on his past, Chipanga recalled a pivotal dream on September 13, 1977, which led him to join the liberation struggle. He recounted his arrest and detention by Rhodesian forces, describing the experience as transformative.
“My time in jail became a school of thought for me,” he said, explaining how it strengthened his commitment to offering spiritual guidance.
Despite facing years of exclusion from state radio stations and media, Chipanga remains devoted to inspiring future generations through his music. He expressed frustration over the accusations against him, emphasizing that his history and intentions are often misunderstood.
“It is unfair for some to judge me without knowing my past,” he remarked.
