US-based Afro Fusion artist Julian King recently dropped his new album, Misunderstood: The Kings Chronicle, which has quickly gained popularity among fans.

The album features 10 tracks, each accompanied by visuals, and includes collaborations with various artists.

The tracklist features songs titled Sorowe, Commando, Marry Me, Dombo, Nobody, Eke, Carol, Kiss, Pikoko, and Sara. Known for his hit song One By One, Julian King brought in prominent collaborators like Holy Ten, Boypee, Geosteady, Phatso, and Nutty O to enrich the project.

Talented producers helped bring his vision to life, with Wayne Beats among those credited for adding their distinctive style to the album.

King explained to H-Metro that the album explores themes of resilience, hope, and self-belief. “Some tracks delve into personal struggles and my experiences, revealing a range of emotions that reflect my journey,” he said.

“Each song stands independently but also fits into a larger story of overcoming obstacles and staying true to oneself.”

Reflecting on his life and path to success, Julian shared that growing up without financial stability and often charting his own course left him feeling misunderstood.

“But through this album, I want listeners who feel isolated or overlooked to know that strength can come from adversity,” he said. “With resilience, faith, and hard work, we can find victory.”

Julian’s favorite track on the album, Pikoko, holds special meaning for him, as it celebrates persistence and the small victories that accumulate along one’s journey.

“The honesty in my music is what I love most,” he added. “I think that rawness resonates with people because my music is both personal and relatable.”

He also expressed his hope for more support for emerging artists, particularly those from modest backgrounds. “The music industry can sometimes feel exclusive. Opening more doors for independent artists could bring new, authentic talent to the forefront.”

Julian’s project executive, Diana Elisha Nheera, expressed her pride in his achievements: “It has been incredible to witness the journey of a student in a foreign land blossoming into a star. Congratulations, Julian, on this debut album and all the hard work that went into it.”
