Former Maritzburg United forward Junior Zindoga is now a free agent after officially terminating his contract with Yadah Football Club, owned by Prophet Walter Magaya.
The contract was terminated “with just cause” following a disagreement over the club’s failure to “honour contractual obligations.”
Zindoga sustained an injury during Yadah’s season opener against Hwange at the Colliery Stadium in March, resulting in two broken metacarpals in his left hand. He underwent a successful operation in South Africa.
The Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) wished him a speedy recovery on social media and noted that Yadah had flown him to South Africa for the surgery.

However, Nehanda Radio reported that Yadah did not pay for Zindoga’s medical treatment or cover other financial obligations, including his signing-on fee, salaries, winning bonuses, and housing allowances. This information was detailed in Zindoga’s termination letter dated June 2, 2024, addressed to Yadah through FUZ.
The letter states, “We refer to the previous notice of 17 May 2024 (attached), by means of which we requested that you remedy several contractual breaches.
Unfortunately, we note that the notice remained unanswered, and no remedy provided. Since the club failed to honour its contractual obligation of paying Mr. Junior Zindoga his salaries, winning bonuses, housing allowances, medical bills, and his signing-on fee even after having notified the club of its breaches.
We hereby wish to notify you that by means of this letter Mr. Junior Zindoga has terminated the employment contract with Yadah Football Club with immediate effect with just cause.
He reserves his right to file a claim against your Club in front of the ZIFA or FIFA National Dispute Resolution Chamber (NDRC) or any other relevant legal tribunal.”
Zindoga’s decision to cut ties with the club was likely influenced by his frustration and disappointment over the lack of support for his medical expenses.
This incident comes just a week after FIFA ordered Yadah to pay US$82,000 for breaching contractual terms with three Brazilian players signed in July 2023.
The club must pay the fine by July 27 to avoid FIFA sanctions, which could include a ban on conducting player transfers both locally and internationally for three consecutive transfer windows.
