Khama Billiat has enjoyed a successful return to football in Zimbabwe following the end of his tenure at Kaizer Chiefs, and the results speak for themselves. In his first full season playing for Yadah FC, Billiat delivered an impressive performance, scoring 13 goals and providing the same number of assists, despite playing for a club in the bottom half of the standings.
His stellar form has reignited interest from clubs in the Betway Premiership, and with his contract expiring at the end of the year, his return to the PSL is likely, especially given that he holds a South African ID.
Billiat’s achievements haven’t gone unnoticed, as he was named to the prestigious Soccer Stars of the Year XI in Zimbabwe. This recognition positions him as a strong contender for the Soccer Star of the Year award, which is considered the equivalent of Player of the Season. If Billiat secures this award, he will join the ranks of past winners who have made their mark in South Africa’s PSL, including Peter Ndlovu and Wilfred Mugeyi.
Notably, Mugeyi is the only player to have won both the Soccer Star of the Year in Zimbabwe and the PSL Player of the Season in South Africa, a feat Billiat could potentially match if he wins the Zim award this year. Billiat had previously won the PSL Footballer of the Year in the 2015/16 season while at Mamelodi Sundowns.
