Cape town, South Africa – The tantalizing prospect of Khama Billiat donning the Cape Town City jersey once again is gaining momentum.
Following his high-profile departure from Kaizer Chiefs, the Zimbabwean winger has rekindled his goal-scoring form at Yadah FC, attracting renewed interest from the South African outfit.
Cape Town City chairman, John Comitis, has never hidden his admiration for Billiat’s talent. The club made a concerted effort to secure his services when he became a free agent last year, but the player opted for a different path.
However, with Billiat rediscovering his scoring touch in the Zimbabwean Premier League, where he currently shares the top scorer’s mantle with CAPS United’s William Manondo, City are evidently keen to reignite their pursuit.

The Western Cape-based club, though, faces stiff competition for Billiat’s signature. Tanzania giants Young Africans, who are set to lock horns with Chiefs in the Toyota Cup, are also reportedly in the race to acquire the services of the experienced attacker.
Billiat’s illustrious career has seen him grace the South African top flight with Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns, where he established himself as one of the most feared forwards in the league.
His return to the PSL could potentially inject a much-needed spark into the Cape Town City lineup.
As the transfer window approaches, the battle for Billiat’s signature is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing storylines in African football. With clubs from both South Africa and Tanzania vying for his services, the 33-year-old finds himself in a highly enviable position.
Whether Billiat chooses to return to the familiar surroundings of South Africa or embark on a new adventure in Tanzania remains to be seen. One thing is certain, however: his next move will be closely followed by fans across the continent.
