A killer couple on the run, accused of the brutal murder of a four-year-old girl, is set to face legal proceedings in Zimbabwe following their extradition from South Africa. A South African court has ruled that John Zvivi and Lister Sibanda are accountable for the alleged crime.
The couple, who fled Zimbabwe after the tragic incident, were arrested in Bram Fischerbille, Johannesburg. They are suspected of killing Lister’s niece and had been trying to avoid extradition back to Zimbabwe.
After their arrest, Zvivi and Sibanda sought legal representation to contest the extradition but were ultimately unsuccessful. The court stated in its judgment:
“After reviewing all evidence presented, including arguments from both sides, the court concludes that the respondents, John and Lister, must be extradited to the Republic of Zimbabwe.”
The court confirmed that there is sufficient evidence to support prosecution in Zimbabwe regarding the crimes detailed in the extradition request.

As part of the ruling, the couple will remain in custody while awaiting the Minister of Justice’s decision on their extradition, as outlined in Section 11 of the Extradition Act 67 of 1962. They have 15 days to appeal this order to the High Court.
Meanwhile, their children have been placed in the care of Social Welfare officials in South Africa, highlighting the tragic consequences of the couple’s alleged actions.
Reports indicate that the couple committed the crime at their home in the Vantage Area of Zvimba. Following the murder, they reportedly concealed the child’s body in a sack and disposed of it in a river. It is alleged that the young girl, named Princess, suffered fatal injuries due to severe physical abuse.
Princess’s mother, Nomsa, had entrusted her daughters to the couple while she worked as a domestic worker in South Africa. Tragically, it is reported that the couple subjected the children to horrific abuse, using electrical cables and a walking stick as instruments of violence.
