Kwekwe Family Robbed, Loses Car, Cash, and Valuables to Armed Intruders

A Kwekwe family endured a harrowing ordeal on March 8, 2024, when armed robbers stormed their residence in Chicago, Kwekwe, and made off with their car, cash, and other valuables. Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident and issued an appeal for any information that could assist in apprehending the perpetrators and recovering the stolen property.

According to Inspector Mahoko, the robbery occurred around 20:00 hours when Ladeo Green (34) and his wife were at home. Seven unidentified men forcefully entered their house and proceeded to tie the couple’s hands using shoelaces. The robbers then demanded cash, to which the couple complied by surrendering US$100.

In addition to the cash, the robbers also seized cellphones and car keys before fleeing the scene in the family’s white Honda Fit with registration number AFS 3373 (old shape). The assailants swiftly vanished after taking the vehicle, leaving the family shaken and traumatized.

Upon regaining freedom, Green and his wife promptly alerted the authorities, and a police report was filed. Inspector Mahoko stressed that investigations into the robbery were ongoing, and the police were actively seeking any leads that could lead to the identification and arrest of the robbers as well as the recovery of the stolen items.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat of crime in communities and underscores the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting to law enforcement agencies. The Kwekwe community and neighboring areas are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information that may aid in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
