Dynamos coach Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowe voiced his frustration over the lack of CAF-approved stadiums in Zimbabwe following his team’s exit from the Confederation Cup after losing to Botswana’s Orapa United.
Dynamos were defeated 3-1 on penalties in the second leg of the first-round tie at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.
The match ended with a 1-1 aggregate, with Orapa United overturning Dynamos’ 1-0 lead from the first leg, also held at the same venue.
After Orapa’s Ivan Kamberipa scored in the 78th minute, Chigowe lamented that if Dynamos had played their home match in Zimbabwe rather than Botswana, the result could have been different.
He said, “We had the chances to kill off this contest… we played both matches away from home, and that’s a big disadvantage.”
Dynamos missed several opportunities, including a penalty by Kevin Moyo in the first half. Emmanuel Paga also had a goal ruled offside.
In the penalty shootout, only Temptation Chiwunga scored, with Valentine Kadonzvo, Eli Ilunga, and Nomore Chinyerere all missing, resulting in Dynamos’ 3-1 loss.
