Veteran actress Susan Chenjerai, affectionately known as Mai Rwizi, is expected to be laid to rest this Friday, according to a statement from a close relative. Mai Rwizi passed away last Friday in Harare following a brief illness at the age of 83.
Her niece, Prisca Shonhiwa, mentioned that the burial arrangements are contingent upon the arrival of relatives from the United States. “She is likely to be buried on Friday as we are waiting for relatives from the United States,” Shonhiwa explained.
“The family is currently in discussions to decide on the burial site and are working towards reaching a consensus.”
Mai Rwizi, who was also a musician, gained fame for her role in the beloved drama series “Mhuri YekwaMukadota” before later transitioning to a pastoral role. She is survived by five children, 30 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
Currently, mourners are gathering at No. 1 Barbra TradeGold Circle in Mbare to pay their respects to the late actress and musician.
